Anniversary?! Yes y’all, today is the anniversary of the debut of my IG Music Series, “Between the Notes and Me!” It’s one year later, and I decided, why not officially release the well-received Episode 1: A Lovely Day, for Purchase & Streaming!

As a year was approaching since I started this passion project, I had been thinking of how proud of myself I was- to get out of my head, get out of my comfort zone, and just share my gifts! No more waiting for the perfect time, or perfect production, or even caring about how it will be received. I learned that only me, was holding me back… And in the same breath, only me could be the one to release me from the mental and emotional boxes I hid myself into, that really did no good… for anyone.

Before the pandemic, I was in a whirlwind of a relationship that ended abruptly and dramatically. I kind of lost myself in that relationship, and unfortunately, when it ended, not only was I absolutely devastated… But for the first couple months, I felt completely lost.

I was investing my all into building something with someone that had no intention on investing, nor pouring into me. It wasn’t until I started to heal, and face myself in the mirror- acknowledging my part, and the red flags that I chose to ignore, that allowed for space and opportunity to reclaim not only my time, but my voice.

I found myself again after healing, post heartbreak, stood unapologetically in my identity and voice again, and I truly haven’t looked back since! I love that for me!

Now that the tea is officially spilt… I *officially* released ‘A Lovely Day’ via DistroKid, and you can purchase & download/stream on all your favorite platforms (Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, etc.) Downloading and Streaming it will be much appreciated, but as an independent artist, *purchasing* the song (for .99 cents) would realllly be supporting me as an artist, so thank you! It feels great to be Artist Verified, but you know I’ve been an artist ever since I came out of my mother’s womb! PERIOD!!

Releasing a song in this capacity is just one way I’m showing up for myself. This is just the beginning. I have original material that will be rolling out, in this way, at the top of the year, and I’m excited to be on this journey with you by my side!

Yes I'm still here!  I know, it's been awhile since I last posted (almost two weeks).  I've been busy ya'll, I promise!  Don't hold it against me!

What have I been up to lately you ask?  Well, even if you didn't ask... Work!  The truth is, I've been working a lot lately, and haven't had much time for blogging.  But I'm making a vow to stay on track with posting regularly!

What's been up with you all?

I've been sticking with going to the gym, and the weather is increasing its temperature each week as well!  That really keeps me motivated because summer is vastly approaching!  Gotta get it right, get it tight!

These pics were shot in my home with a backdrop.  The bff and I had a grand ole' time shooting while listening to Kanye :)

I've also been listening to Bruno Mars's album (I'm late, but I just downloaded it a couple days ago).  I really like it!  What are you guys listening to these days?  I could use some suggestions!

The past few days have been an emotional rollercoaster, but I've tightened up my safety belt, and holding on!  I've been really pensive about everything going on in my life right now, from relationships, to family life, to my career... It's not always about what you want to do, but what you need to do, to get where you want to be! (Preach sister, preach!) lol

To contrast my heavy heart and emotions, here are some fun pics that were shot the other day.  I had a lot of fun shooting this look, my bff Sasha and I were cracking up the whole time!  I find these pics pretty fun, I hope you do too :)

On a lighter note, I found out that one of my photos has been selected to be featured in Essence Magazine's "Street Style" page!  It's a two-page spread featuring women from all over the country, showcasing their style!  I'm a big fan of Essence Magazine, it has been a staple in my household for as long as I can remember!  The feature won't be out until the new year, so I'll let you know when it's issued, so you all can look out for it!

More fun news, I found myself on The Moptop Maven's blog!  I am a reader of her blog, and find her content really informative and refreshing!  But I actually wasn't the one who discovered it.  My mom's soror did.  Then some friends shortly following!  I thought it was pretty cool, you can check out the post here.

For a little bit of hair talk, I've been wearing my twist out like it's my job.  It's big and curly, and I love it!  All I'm doing when it's loosing it's "umph" is re-twisting it every other night and adding a little shea butter while twisting.  I also am going to be posting a new youtube video soon!  I've been getting a lot of emails and questions regarding how to take care of your hair after you do the big chop!  I'll let you know when it's posted!

Whenever I'm feeling down, or having a tough week, I try to remember this: "Do something positive and creative every single day. It can be a small thing, from writing a few lyrics to writing a thank you card to a friend. Bring positivity to people, and that is what you will receive. Create and you will inspire! A little goes a long way, do this everyday and you’ll notice a change of energy and light in your life."
